Objectives

Participants will learn and share ideas around the concept of convergence and infectious disease ecology

Attendees will gain further insights into these concepts through discussions involving multiple disciplines and different subject matter experts

MSU participants will have a better understanding of CDC, its mission, and its ways of operating and partnering

CDC participants will gain new knowledge about land-grant universities and Tier 1 Research institutions and better understand the value of building collaborative relationships

Participants will discover new value and opportunities in partnerships between CDC and academe as well as discover new MSU opportunities in public health, animal health, environmental health, health marketing, and improving health in all of these areas, individually and collectively, especially as part of a "One Health" theme

Faculty and researchers from Michigan State University (MSU), colleagues from local, state and Federal government, and representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, met at MSU to gain insight on trends and challenges within disease spread and management, and to explore opportunities for partnership.
